Not many female fighting films compare with Russian Catfights in terms of intensity. The format here is apartment-based fighting between young, slim and topless girls, all of whom seem to have a genuine grudge against the other. Don't expect any restraint - the girls kick, punch, pull hair, scissor and slap each other. One or two can add some decisive wrestling and martial arts moves to the equation too. This is female fighting in its purest form, sustained at breakneck pace for around 15 minutes per contest. And if you're wondering why the girls keep shouting the word "cyka!” (pronounced `sooka') at each other, it's Russian for "bitch!”

1. Kami vs Vela (15:00 mins)

If you want uncompromising girl v girl fighting with (almost) no holds barred, you've come to the right place. These two Russian girls, both small and slim, are exceptionally fit and highly aggressive. They punch and kick each other, kneeing each other in the midriff to gain an advantage.


Once on the mat, it's a war, the advantage changing constantly as they pull hair and savage each other's small breasts. The stronger girl prevails after a fierce and emotional contest.

What's obvious here is the skill that both girls involved bring to the fight. They've clearly both had their share of mat and street fights, and here they leave no stone unturned as they fight full-on for victory. Among the ultra-violence are some great wrestling manoeuvres, and there's clearly some history here, because the needle between both girls is quite obvious.


This ends with one finally sitting on and dominating a vanquished and furious foe - and this desperate struggle goes on until the ref steps in to end it.

The first girl to be introduced is surely among the cutest ever to take part in this type of combat, and as if that wasn't enough, she's also among the most ferocious. Small, short-haired and perfectly trim of body, she attacks an equally determined opponent with venom.


The sheer force with which they clobber each other around the face and head is awesome and their fighting is sustained for over 15 minutes - something which must have seemed like a lifetime as this breakneck pace. At one point, one girl is hauled headfirst against what looks like a fridge, with a resounding clang - but they just continue fighting as if nothing had happened. Breathtaking!
